Saw Kandasamy Yest Evening show at Albert Theatre . The show started only at 7.30 . I liked the movie overall, but none of my friends liked it . Vikram’s officer-look in the movie is definitely a great plus for the movie . Susi Ganesan has tried a ‘Shankar’ though i should say . Camera Work in the Movie is Extraordinary . Better than most Hollywood movies i’ve seen recently . I’ve always thought that the only thing which differentiates Tamil Movies from Hollywood is that our  directors are bound to take films with a standard template format .  Love Sequences , Songs , Item numbers . If you cut off all unwanted songs and masala sequences from Kandasamy, i am sure it’ll be a top class movie .

Everyone say it is a mixture of many movies . If you count Prabhu as Police and the hero running around in Expensive Armani Suits and wearing everybrand of Sunglasses present in the market and driving a dozen cars each of different ‘business-quizzer-know-how’ brand, it does look like Billa . If you see it as lots of people working together as a clandestine team for a cause it does look like Ramana . Else if you see it as Hero battling out black money , it maybe like Sivaji The Boss.  No , i didnt count ‘Yaavarum Nalam’ as Vikram comes out with a hammer and all . Don’t be ridiculous . Whatever it may, Kandasamy is a whole new movie with a class of its own . Worth seeing atleast once. I would give it 3 and half stars .

This infinite abyss of vettiness has pushed me into watching Mega Serials. I already am a fan of many English Series but Tamil Mega Serials which air during Dinner Time caught my attention only in the recent times. Everytime i see an episode of these serials, i wonder how much effort the story writer or the director would have put for this particular show . And thus this blog post takes shape . Every serial now has a Ex Top Kollywood Actress in the lead role . This is one more thing i don’t understand ; All series have strong female leads while there is no importance given to Men . Men in tamil series are usually old and drunkard father, useless husband, arrogant brother, cunning brother-in-law,  comedian sidekick etc. no strong roles given . And they call us MCP . Duh. Alright Alright now moving to our post . It is a simulation of what possibly happens in a shooting spot of a Nedumthodar .

I’ve seen many Technologies ‘unveiled’ in Tamil Movies . In these lines , well see the Top 10 Tech Breakthroughs of Kollywood .

10. The Point Blank Sniper-Modhi Vilayadu

Modhi Vilayadu is a Comedy Circus . So lets concentrate only on our part . A trained Assassin from HongKong is hired to kill Vinay . And guess what , he rides along in a van adjacent to Vinay’s car in a attempt kill scene . He sports the usual full black dress with a gulla-face mask . The gun he uses is a high tech Sniper rifle which pans and zooms at the target automatically .  Eventhough the target is a punch away from the barrel , it focuses exactly and the assassin any how misses the shot . Point Blank Sniper is at Number 10.

9. Finger Pistol – Newtonin Moonram Vidhi

This is NOT a kollywood breakthrough actually , it was invented by the Director of the Mega Hit Holly movie ‘Shoot ‘em Up’ . Ya , the one with Monica Bellucci . In NMV , S.J. Surya has a set of bullets but unfortunately couldn’t find a gun . So he keeps each bullet in the gap between his fingers and keeps his hand in fire . The bullets fire like party pops and kills the Villain . Seems Surya don’t need guns after all .

8. The Auto Corrupt Pen Drive – Billa 2007

Ajith gives a Pen Drive to Rahman at the Climax scene . At first he checks it and it ‘Works’ fine . ‘works’ here means there is a extremely complex User Interface design on the Pen Drive which on Plugging autoruns and shows the List of Names of All Felons associated with him . Such a thoughtful backup by ‘Jegadish’ . And the fun part is that after some time the PC screen starts shaking and a error message is shown saying ‘File Corrupted’ in Big Red Capital Letters . Apple, are you listening ?

7. Video Background Analyzer – Narasimha

The Terrorists send a video to the Police which is shot from a Desert Location . But it is actually not . The T forces shoot the video in a Snowy place and apply their CG expertise in it to change the BG . Vijaykanth on seeing the video , finds out that the BG has been tampered and hits ‘Enter’ on the Keyboard . Kaboom. The original snowy bg shows up and they zero in the Terrorists hiding place . Highly Advanced Material .

6. The Parachute Coat - Villu

Before going to the Parachute Coat, this whole sequence from Villu is Futuretastic. The Laser Room copied from Resident Evil, the biometric , voice and retina testing machine which projects the message ‘Voice code accepted’ in mid air and the Pocket Knife which cuts through Industry Grade Aluminum like Processed Cheese , the list goes on . Anyway, when Vijay jumps from the Plane , he doesn’t seem to wear a Parachute. But when he tears open his Coat, a fully functional Parachute kicks out and he flies and lands in Nayanthara’s lap . Ya , HE WAS WEARING THE CHUTE THE WHOLE TIME ! .

5.  Do-it-Yourself Phone Explosives – Madura

The Villain owns a Mobile Network . So what ? He plants explosives in SIM cards . Soon most of the phones in the city have this Remote Controllable Any Time Activation Explosive in them . When Villain threatens to detonate it by Calling A NUMBER , Vijay destroys a nearby telephone tower and thus saving millions of lives . The city is safe , Thanks to Powerpuff Vijay .

4. Bullet Proof Archana Plates – Sabari

This Video is probably the most watched Video in YouTube . Vijaykanth has a archana plate under his shirt. The Bad Guy takes out a .38 and takes a clean shot at Captain’s Chest area. The bullet cruises towards him , hits the plate takes an inverse swinging parabolic path and hits back the bad guy clean an square . NYPD R&D guys have watched the video zillion times , reports say .

3. Pyro Tactics – Sanda

Nadiya and her Daughter arrive in a car . Our hero Sundar C takes a Knife and throws it with deadly precision towards the Fuel tank of the car . The knife clean shaves the Tank cover along with the lid . Then he ignites his cigarette using his BARE HANDS , how cool is it . This is probably why i thought of writing this post itself.  In Singaravelan , Kamal has a photo of Khusboo shot at the Age of 5 . He wants to know how she looks like after 18 years . 8. Blog: This is a bit too much , but you can actually blog about some random nonsense and pester your friends to read it . Shoo Shoo shut up guys i dont write nonsense . Hmmm if you are devoid of topics, take the evergreen route ‘College Life’ is there and then ‘The last movie i saw’ is there and ya the latest topic ‘R.I.P. MJ ‘ is there . So make yourselves comfortable and write something .

7.Useless Mail: You can actually join some no-good yahoo group which sends so called ‘funny-pics’ to your mailbox . Will serve as a morning warmer . Uh put a filter for the words ‘Cute , Cats , Dogs’ etc coz most of the time you’ll be looking at some chinese baby photos with some newborn kittens . Annoying at many times.

6.Kootu Sadhi: Try to meet up with ‘Like’ friends who are also vetti . Vetti+Vetti= Great Freaking Timepass . You can talk about absolutely anything from Obama to Vettaikaaran to Megan Fox. Killing time one topic at a time

5.Times of India: Please subscribe to TOI or DC . Don’t buy hindu for god’s sakes . Does Hindu have crucial info like which-actor-is-going-out-with-whom and all that stuff . No . So get one of these two papers and you already would have killed half your time.

4.Games: If you are a fan of computer games then well and good you wouldn’t have come to my blog on the first place if not i have an idea . If you have successfully accomplished Step 6: Kootu Sadhi then life becomes easier. Get a pack of cards , one coke 2 liter bottle and some snacks . Sorgam . My personal advice is to get a carrom board . Imba entertainment .

2 .Twitter: Twitter sema fun . If your friends are giving useless boring status updates which you dont understand most of the time , dont worry ; follow some famous people at twitter . Take me for example , i follow @KimKardashian , @aplusk(Ashton Kutcher) etc . Its great to see what these guys update . I mean ‘ I am feeling better today’ , ‘Off to airport’ and all that crap . So you can console yourself that more vettier people are there in the planet .

1. Facebook: People who dont have a FB account close this tab right now . FB is the big daddy of all things which eat time . You can

• Use brilliant , AI mastered applications like ‘ What color are you’ , ‘When will you die’ , ‘ What element are you’ . Beats the living hell out of you .
• Look at your friends  giving mind boggling updates such as ‘ I shouldn’t have done that . I regret it ‘ , ‘I will not be happy any more, but that doesn’t matter, there are many other things in this world’ and such random stupidity.
• Take noob quizzes which even a 7 year old will ace and then publish it with a Happy Smiley as status .
• Play great games like Mafia Wars and say ‘ I am looking for a Blue Ribbon , I am looking for 5 of Spades ‘ and whatever you like .

and so on .

I know it is late . But just now got the time to post about Techofes 2009 . Techofes is the annual intercollege culturals of CEG, Anna University . As a final year Grad of Anna Univ , this is my last Techofes . I always thought it would be more fun seeing Techofes as a final year guy . I was wrong . Sema Mokka . I was there for all four day night events . Hmmm not upto the mark this time . Personally feel so . Well most important reason i am bringing out this post is that i took some 493 photos with my new camera at techofes and i wanna put some of those to a better use . So now , presenting some of the techofes moments . 

Dr. Vijay Inauguration :

Ilayathalapathi Vijay

I am (was) a Vijay Fan as y’all can see from my previous posts . So was eagerly looking forward for this one . Everyone have to accept that the crowd was overwhelming and Vijay is definitely a Mass Entertainer . The event went on smooth till the part where he was requested to sing a song on stage . It was Oscar Night so his choice was “Ellapugazhum Oruvan Oruvanukke” from ATM . Would have been nice if he sang it in normal pace . He sung in a …. 0.25x speed and was really annoying . Other than that Vijay was great . 

And this section won’t be complete unless i tell this . There was a Ajith Rasigar group sitting next to us giving imba comments . 

Vijay: Unga ellarayum paakarappo enakkum anga(pointing towards crowd) vandhu ukkaranum pola irukku . 

Group: Adhukkelllam Naalu Ezhuttu Padichirukkkanumpa. 

Audience: We want Dance! We want Dance !

Hariharan Concert:

Next day it was Hariharan’s Concert . Hmmm he sung all melodious songs and girls were really enjoying it . Pasanga kadanukku ukkandhuttu irunthom . He was trying a fashion parade with dress changes for every 20 mins and all . Useless . The whole show wasn’t that much fun except for Riya , the hostess of the show . Hmmm thanks for the eye candy Riya . 

Variety Show and Light Music:

Variety Shows are always fun . With Mimicries and Kalachifying Girls and all . This year it was as usual good . One of the teams mercilessly copied the Super Mario Stage Show concept and the crowd was cheering them like hell . Was great having Sivakarthigeyan and Mirchi Siva on Stage . Siva’s ” Marathula Irukkuthu kaai ” kavithai is fun to hear anytime . 

As for light Music , i have to mention abt the Host Performance . Hans have seen better days . It wasn’t too impressive and the stunts at the end could have been avoided . If any Hans ian is seeing this i am just a member of the public . . No issues . 

Choreo Nite:

Puja and Shantanoo

Choreo was top class . My favourite team on Stage was Loyola- Zero Gravity . The guests of honour were Shantanoo Bagyaraj and Puja from Manada Mayilada(Or Jodi No.1 maybe . Can’t keep track of copy cat shows) . But choreo was mostly all male . Not what we expected . No sights at all . Vettiya pochu . 

Quizzes, Burgerman and more:

Quizzes were good (surprisingly) in this Techofes . I managed to get on stage for all quizzes but won nothing . The official food of this year’s Techofes was Burger Man . Paadhi selavu burgerlaye thaan pochu .

We sat in the VIP section of the event for all 4 days . Getting past that Student Security was Challenging and fun a the same time . We cooked up a new story everyday . They bought it . Noobs . 

Hmmm hanging out with friends-commenting on celebs- constant lookout for girls – friend thalaila molaga arachi oc food- ippadi ella techofes maari ithuvum pochu. Murrum.

Huh . February 14th . The Big day for lovers . Valentine’s day . There is too much hype about V.Day from the media . ‘Love is in the air’ , ‘Get ready to surprise your loved one’ ippadi paperla endha pakkam thiruppinaalum ore alumbal . I dunno if many of you have come across rasigar manra season’s greetings and all .Yes i am referring to the A4 sheets with black and white content stuck on walls and water tanks whenever a movie realeases on a festival day . In our area it is a usual sight . Ajith and Vijay fans are constanly battling it out for power or supremacy over the area . Their only weapons are these handouts which they print for each movie . Okay lets get into the details .

I found this pasted on my house compound wall . I was just about to tear it off . But looking at it i realized that every handout is made in the same way, every year for every movie . So i unstuck it carefully and scanned it . Hope you guys don’t mind about the condition of the paper . . I have numbered the characteristics in the image so read it along with the image.

Top 10 Characteristics:

1.  Always A4 paper . Why ? Coz that is only cheap and available . No colours , only black and white as it will be easy to take xeroxes or who knows maybe one of the manra uruppinars has a xerox shop .

2. The whole poster wil be written in THE Movie Font . In this case they have tried a lot to write in Villu style font . I have a question here . I have known abt Vijay Rasigar Manrams and Ajith Rasigar Manrams . What the hell is Villu Narpani Manram ? And what Narpani they do ? Shew ..

3. A Noob diagramatic representation of the festival they are supposedly wishing . Here we can see a sugarcane that looks like a coconut tree which is the height of the pongal paanai .

4. Whats a manram without the posts ? So the whole area pasanga names will be printed in the order of ‘who-has-bought-beedi-for-the-group-most-number-of-days’ . The top guy being Thalaivar . Usually the other posts are decided the day the poster is written. And what exactly is the work of Manra-Kaapalar ? To safe guard the manram from dispersing till the next movie comes ? And i think uruppinar will be a list of school boys from 5th to 10th in the area (Top prority to Younger Brothers of Office Bearers)

5. Remodified Punch Line from the trailer of the movie . Modified to meet the manram needs . “Villu , engal kuzhu powerfullu” .

6. Self made punch line or something lifted from magazines like Aanantha Vikadan. “Villu , edhira nillu , unga kooda irukkuthu dhillu” ( I have no idea what it means or how to punctuate it ) .

7. This is a sure shot in any poster . Atleast one of the names will be a character played by the hero or the name of some movie by the hero . In this case Pokkiri Karthik ( I have no idea why kokki kumar came here ). In Rajini rasigar manra posters there’ll surely be some 10 names like rajini karthik, rajini mohan, baasha bai , arunachalam venkatesh etc..

8. Group Name . Dont they have to name themselves ? Its never a new innovative name . Atleast b4 they used to have area names like Adam Boys (for Adambakkam) or Royapuram Rockers ( from the cult classic Chennai 600028) . Now look at the name of our group . Triplex Boys . Wow . Guys you are gay . Yuck . Terror Boys , XXX Boys  seriously forget these names .

9. Group Logo . Its good to see the movie Vin Diesel’s XXX logo has made quite an impact worldover . 100s of autos have it . 1000s of bikes . Now time to make an entry into rasigar manram posters .

10. Stills from the movie. Usually stills released in papers will be used . Now guys take it from internet i guess . Look at the center pic of vijay . His expression is like hes trying to rape the cheetah in the center . Manra Design Heads , ive got a message for you . Find Good Stills .

X. I have no idea what happened in the X marked place.  It says Mahendran to Mahadevan . The guy must have namelogically changed his name .
